GODLY INTENTION

Sue O’Donnell. 03.09.20

“My intention is that I might be able to encourage their hearts and urge them to be united in love.” (Colossians 2 v 2 The Truth)

If you ask yourself amidst a tricky situation,

‘What would the Lord Jesus do?’

You come to realise, sooner or later,

Because of the holy commandment to love,

We do not have to like someone,

In order to love them by helping and honouring them.

Whatever the need, we should plead before God,

Praying on behalf of anyone needy.

They may not as yet, know Jesus,

But you do, saved by an undeserving grace.

We have been saved from thoughtless self-obsession.

We are placed in a new and blessed position

When we gift our life to the Lord Jesus.

“I want them to come to a complete understanding of all the riches that are available to them as the mystery of the fullness of Christ is unfolded to them.” (Colossians 2 v 2 The Truth)

According to receiving this blessing, an undeserved favour,

We are called to spread the blessing to others.

Love, we discover is the ready currency.

Someone does not have to be likeable to be loveable.

Jesus, the living Word, is the Lord of holy grace.

He will convey the Spirit of love to us,

That life is shaped in joy, with peace,

The release of worry, anxiety, fear and doubt,

As we open the eyes of the blind

To all the faith, given in hope to us, by Jesus.

Faith is the productive soil of any and every prayed for blessing.

As the Lord God draws all people to Himself,

Through the love of Jesus, made real to us by the Spirit,

According to the many and marvellous answers to prayer.

“The good soil consists of those with good sound hearts. They not only hear the word, but maintain their trust in it and, because they persevere in their faith, they produce a good harvest.” (Luke 8 v 15

The Truth)

“For in Him all the riches of wisdom and true knowledge are to be found.” (Colossians 2 v 3 The Truth)

Dearest Father, may the Lord Jesus, according to our belief in Him as the Saviour who rescues us from our selfishness, make us acceptable to you – righteous – and obtain graces and blessings for us.

Having been fully blessed to be the recipients of Your holy love and mercy, made known to us by Jesus, as the Holy Spirit illuminates our understanding, may we strive to become a blessing.

Unfortunately, we all come across those we do not take to, or do not get on well with. May the Spirit of love help us to set any disdain aside, so we can offer Your love in our words or anything we do for them.

Thank You that in our awareness of the Holy Spirit, we have a keener sense of our inadequacies, learn to ask for help, seeking the grace of blessing.

Let such blessing be passed to any who are in need of love to help them, guide them, safeguard them or change their life in any way. May we all learn to regularly examine our conscience.

Thank You for asking us to build our life on the solid truth of the gospel message bringing hope, peace and joy in a way nothing and no-one else can. Father we are dependent upon You as a Trinity of love and mercy.

When faced with any trial, challenge or difficulty, may the Holy Spirit remind us to find the answer in our Saviour Brother, by asking ‘What would Jesus do here?’ Then praising in prayer, awaiting an answer to

inspire and guide us.

Lord God, in Your Son, by Your Spirit, You are the source and sustenance of all comfort, reassurance and consolation. Thank you so much. May the light of His love ever shine over us and through us. May people see

Jesus at work in our practical help. Amen.
